Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 29, 2026

1. Introduction

At GPA Tally, we believe that your academic data is your private business. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit our website and use our calculators. Our core philosophy is simple: we do not want your data.

2. Data Collection & Local Storage

We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal academic information to any server.

When you use our calculators, your inputs (such as course names, grades, credits, and settings) are saved exclusively in your browser's Local Storage. This is a standard web technology that allows your calculations to persist if you accidentally refresh the page or return later. Because this data never leaves your device, we have zero access to it.

3. Cookies

We use minimal cookies necessary for the basic functioning of the website. Third-party services (such as analytics or advertising partners) may place cookies on your browser to provide their services. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time.

4. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics services to understand general website traffic (e.g., which calculators are most popular, what countries our visitors are from, and what devices they use). This data is aggregated and anonymized. It cannot be used to identify you personally or link you to specific GPA calculations.

5. Advertising & Cookies

To keep GPA Tally free for all students, we use third-party advertising vendors, including Google AdSense, to display ads on our website. These third-party vendors may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, and similar identifiers to serve, personalize, limit, and measure advertisements.

Depending on your region, user consent, browser settings, user location, and Google's policies, you may be served personalized ads or non-personalized ads:

  • Personalized ads are based on your prior visits to our website or other websites on the internet.
  • Non-personalized ads are targeted using contextual information rather than your past behavior, but still use cookies for frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting, and to combat fraud and abuse.

Important Data Protection Note: Your GPA calculator inputs, course names, grades, credits, and calculator settings remain strictly in your browser's local storage. They are NOT sent to Google AdSense, they are NOT sent to any advertising partners by GPA Tally, and they are only used locally on your device for your mathematical calculations.

Your Choices and Control:
You have full control over your advertising preferences. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's My Ad Center / Ad Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' uses of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting industry choice tools such as aboutads.info (YourAdChoices).

6. Your Rights & Data Control

Because your calculator data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it. You can delete all your academic data at any time by:

  • Clicking the "Reset All Fields" or "Clear" buttons within the calculators.
  • Clearing your browser's cache and local storage data.

We comply with global privacy regulations including the GDPR and CCPA by ensuring we do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) without explicit consent (such as when you voluntarily email us).

7. Children's Privacy

Our website is designed for high school and college students. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information via our contact form, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

9. Contact Us

If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please reach out to us via our Contact Page or email us directly at [email protected].
